You can get traffic to your website in a number of ways:
Search Engines are a big and most important way. Of course to get search engine traffic you need to get listed in the search engines in the first place. This means you can use any number of free or paid search engine submission services around the internet.
Link Directories and Link Exchanges are another important piece to getting traffic to your website. There are both free and paid resources available for listing your site, some will require an exchange linking back to them, some will not. Some will require a fee to list, while others will be free. While being pretty monotanous work to make these links they will all help provide you with traffic on an ongoing basis.
Writing Articles is a another good method of getting traffic. If you list your articles in article directories, ezines and webmasters will pick up your article to be used including the link that you put in the article.
Advertising is another good way of bringing in traffic. You will find that you are able to get both free and paid advertising that will bring visitors to your site. There is banner advertising, traffic exchange, text link ads, all of which have their good and bad points.
Of course the key to advertsing is to reach as many as possible. One inexpensive advertising method that I use is Internet Bum Advertising Links. The price tag on them is small and the ad continues to be effective for a long time.
